The Grand Home Furnishings Christmas Tree Contest: Vote for Your Favorite!

This holiday season, we’ve decked the halls across all 16 of our stores with stunning Christmas trees, each uniquely decorated to reflect our team members' creativity and festive spirit. Our Christmas Tree Contest is in full swing, and we invite YOU to join in the fun by voting for your favorite tree!

Each team worked with a $100 budget and a towering 12-foot tree to create some serious holiday magic. Make sure to visit our stores to see the trees in person—pictures simply can't capture their full beauty!

Here’s a look at what each store has created:

Tree #1: Snowflake Tree | Johnson City, TN

This majestic tree is adorned with shimmering snowflakes glistening gold ribbons. Represents us as individuals coming together for the good of humanity.

Tree #2: Snowy Woods Tree | Roanoke, VA
(Valley View store)

These fresh snow-covered woods are occupied by God's beautiful creatures. The snow and animals in the forest signify a stillness and purity which reminds us of Psalm 148: 'All creatures shall worship Him.' We pray that all our family, friends and clients pause from their busy lives and watch the deer, bunnies or squirrels frolic in the newly fallen snow. The sleigh is a visual reminder of the gifts God brings us all throughout the year. Peace and Happiness to all - God Bless.

Tree #3: Winter Wonderland Tree | Roanoke, VA

Crisp silver, tinsel, whites, and a touch of blue. Colors of wintertime……

Tree #4: Home for the Holidays Candy Land Tree | Martinsburg, WV

We chose the Candy Land theme for its bright, happy, and nostalgic feeling it brings with it. Many people love the tradition of Christmas for the homey feeling it brings. We hope this tree will bring back happy childhood memories of family and friends gathering for friendly conversation and competition.

Tree #5: Let's Get Crackin' Tree | Winchester, VA

This tree is based on our Design Consultant, Gwen Kalbaugh's, unintentional collection of Nutcrackers. What started as a Christmas toy for her son, Kaleb, has grown to a new Nutcracker every year. What better way to display them than to put them in our tree?! There are approximately 55 Nutcrackers or ornaments on the red, gold, black and white tree. We finished it off with a tartan plaid and Nutcracker ribbon. Our tee topper is an ode to the easily recognizable Toy Soldier Hat worn by so many of the wooden toys. What would a Winchester tree be like without the train choo-chooing around a village surrounded by nuts just waiting to be cracked? We hope you enjoy our 2024 version of the Grandest Tree in town!

Tree #6: Beetlejuice Christmas Tree | Lynchburg, VA

Our holiday tree this year takes inspiration from one of 2024's biggest hits, Beetlejuice II, and the response from our customers and staff has been incredible! Seeing the joy, nostalgia, and laughter it brings has been heartwarming. The tree's bright purple and green color palette pays tribute to the iconic theme from both movies, and we've surrounded it with fun props and extras straight from the Beetlejuice world. People have been calling it sassy, classy, and downright fun! Don’t forget to vote for the Beetlejuice tree—just be careful not to say the name three times!

Tree #7: Christmas in Oz Tree | Kingsport, TN

Combining the magic of Christmas with the wizardry of OZ...the most fun this holiday season!!!

Tree #8: Christmas in The Cabin Tree | Beckley, WV

The entire scene of this year’s tree is based on a traditional West Virginia Christmas. The cabin wall is constructed with WV hardwood. The mounted deer was harvested locally and all of the nostalgia reminds you of a typical cabin in the woods. The artwork above the fireplace was hand painted by a local artist to complete the scene.

Tree #9: Winter in Virginia Tree | Charlottesville, VA

Our tree this year is "Winter in Virginia." With the cardinals, holly berries and snow, it reminds you of a good ole time of wintering in VA! You can almost taste a hot apple cider when looking at it!

Tree #10: Train Station Tree | Lewisburg, WV

Our Grand commercial representing Yellowstone inspired us to do a Train Station. We turned our Tree into a classic steam engine and placed tracks on the floor leading to the office we turned into the Grand Train Tunnel. It is complete with a Ticket Booth with “old west wanted” posters of our Executive's screenshots from the Yellowstone commercial along with our Senior Vice President. We even made “Grand Express” tickets paired with jolly bells as ornaments that liven up the Train Tree and wreaths throughout the store. Finished up with railroad crossing signs, we feel like our Theme holds up to a Holiday of Grand times.

Tree #11: Cowboy Country Tree | Harrisonburg, VA

Saddle up y'all, it's a country Christmas! We roped in the cattle on horseback this year! Our cowboy country Christmas tree is filled with cowboy boots and hats, and adorned with authentic repurposed horseshoes spray-painted red, silver, and gold! Rope garland lassoed around the tree highlights the snow owls, Cow print and plaid stockings. This year we want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Tree #12: The Polar ExpressTree | Bristol, VA

Choo Choo! Choo Choo! The Polar Express has made it to Bristol this year. Our tree is full of golden tickets, bell ornaments along with lantern ornaments, all are significant to the Polar Express movie. The Polar Express, a poplar movie and book at Christmas, brings a sense of magic and friendship to the season. We hope our train and tree bring a warm Christmas spirit to all our customers.

Tree #13: The Lighthouse Tree | Christiansburg, VA

A lighthouse is a beacon for ships in the ocean to find safety near land. In the spirit of a lighthouse, our tree lights the way for discovery and hope. Inspired by the value of past Christmas traditions, it lights a path for our minds to follow, creating memories that fill our hearts with all the joy that brings happiness to life. Lets seek out and find that happiness together.

Tree #14: The Dutton Tree | Princeton, WV

We chose this theme because only at Grand Home Furnishings can you dream as Big as Yellowstone. So go ahead, find your happy and vote for our tree, or someone may take a trip to the train station.

Tree #15: Simply Blessed Tree | Wise, VA

Christmas is about Jesus. Red for the blood that he shed. White is for the pure/sin-free that he washes us.

Tree #16: The Yellowstone Tree | Waynesboro, VA

After featuring the Yellowstone Collection, our team wanted to keep the excitement alive with a festive twist. Our tree captures the essence of the West with a rustic color palette of red, tan, and antique black. We started with natural elements like dried hydrangea blooms and pinecones, layering them with garlands of burlap ribbon, silk poinsettias, and berry bushes. To complete the look, we added ornaments like cowbells, horseshoes, metal stars, and classic Christmas balls. The finishing touch? Handcrafted slates featuring the names of Yellowstone characters—a nod to the show that inspired it all.
