Lift Chairs

Frequently, we get asked by customers if we have lift chairs that can accommodate petite elderly parents. While we have many lift chairs available, we always recommend our Ultra Comfort lift chairs, designed with the needs of shorter individuals in mind. The Polaris Small Lift Chair and Mira Small Lift Chair are ideal for people 5’ 3” and shorter. For those who find standard chairs too deep, the seat height and depth on Ultra Comfort models are often adjustable, ensuring that your feet rest flat on the floor, which is crucial for proper spinal alignment and comfort.
Recliners

If you are looking for a standard recliner rather than a lift chair then we recommend checking out the La-Z-Boy Vail Recliner. This recliner is smaller in scale but doesn't compromise on comfort or functionality. It features a lower seat height and a shallower seat depth, ideal for those whose legs dangle on standard-sized recliners. The Vail is available in 3 colors: desert tan, blue and burgundy wine. The reclining mechanism is smooth and easy to use, which means adjusting your seating position is effortless. Its design is not only ergonomic but also stylish, available in various fabrics and leathers to match any home aesthetic. This recliner is an excellent choice for shorter statures.
Beds

It's important not to forget about your bed height. Shorter statures may find it difficult to get into bed if it's too high off the ground. Try a platform bed that doesn't require box springs under the mattress, making it lower to climb onto.
If you have a bed that requires a box spring or foundation it's especially important to understand the industry terminology. When it comes to choosing a mattress foundation, you typically have the choice between a low profile and high profile foundation. Low profile mattress foundations sit about 5 to 6 inches high, as opposed to the standard 9 inches of high profile foundations. Additionally, there's an Ultra Low Foundation by Tempur-Pedic that's only 2 inches high ideal for a platform bed.
A lower foundation makes getting into and out of bed easier and safer by reducing the distance you need to climb or descend, which can be particularly beneficial for those with mobility issues or shorter legs.
Smaller Sofas

Smaller sofas are an excellent option for those who find standard sofas too deep or too high. These sofas typically have shallower seats and lower heights, providing better back support and enabling your feet to touch the floor comfortably. Again, we recommend a top-name brand, La-Z-Boy for their smaller scaled designs. The Ava Whisper Recliner Sofa is perfect for users 5'4" to 5'9".
Emerald Craft also has smaller-sized sofas available with seats that aren't as deep as standard sofas. The Kais traditional sofa and the Drusky Sofa feature a seat depth of only 21".
For those living in smaller apartments or needing a more proportionate furniture arrangement, these sofas are ideal. They offer the comfort and aesthetics of traditional sofas while catering to the proportions that shorter individuals find comfortable.
